Nine Lines of Argument in Favor of the Regulative Principle of Worship, T. David Gordon

The Regulative Principle of the Church, Sam Waldron

Biblical Authority and the Proof of the Regulative Principle of Worship, John A. Delivuk Warning: Delivuk is a Presbyterian who believes, incorrectly, that the Regulative Principle requires exclusive Psalmody and the elimination of instrumental music in the church, while he believes it also allows for paedobaptism.  He is wrong in all of these conclusions, but his article is still valuable as a general defense of the Regulative Principle.

Infant Baptism and the Regulative Principle of Worship, Fred Malone Warning: While this is a fine article overall, Malone would have done well to employ the Biblical term “ordinances” rather than the word “sacrament” for baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

A Careful Baptist Statement of the Regulative Principle of Worship and its Practical Outworking Note: The fact that this is a well-written statement does not constitute an endorsement of Calvinism or of any type of church other than an unaffiliated and separatist Baptist congregation.

The True Meaning of Easter, Greg Wilson Note: While Wilson makes good points, neither his TULIP theology nor his Wednesday crucifixion view (cf. Luke 24:21) are Scriptural.

Should a Christian celebrate Christmas? by Biblical Discernment Ministries (Note:  While the article linked here is valuable, Alexander Hislop’s The Two Babylons, one of the sources in its bibliography, contains certain factual errors, and not every historical derivation of Christmas customs is entirely certain.)

The Regulative Principle of Worship and Christmas, Brian Schwertley Warning:  Schwertley is a Presbyterian who is for exclusive psalmody and against instrumental music, positions not mandated in Scripture.  Also, the Lord’s Day is not the Christian Sabbath, contra Schwertley.  Furthermore, churches have the liberty to meet on any day of the year and to preach on any Biblical topic on any day of the year, so they can preach on the incarnation on December 25.  With these important caveats, Schwertley’s article makes many points well worthy of consideration.

Useful Sources for News

Fundamental Baptist Information Service, by David Cloud.  Useful daily articles on the modern religious scene and on Biblical theological topics.  Most articles are not about politics.  About 99% of them are Scriptural, accurate, and reliable. (Subscribe to this newsletter on the webpage here.)

Washington Update, by Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council. (Subscribe to this newsletter on the webpage here.)  A useful daily news source with valuable and reliable information, although it defines “Christian” in a very broad way that would include any religious organization that claims the term, even those with terrible false gospels.  (See a Biblical analysis of various false “Christian” gospels by clicking here.)

The Federalist  A useful news source from a conservative, constitutionalist perspective.

There are many other valuable sources of news and information.  I wish I could, for example, recommend the Patriot Post, for it has reliable, quality news articles.  However, it will occasionally print h-ll and d–n as curse words and take God’s holy name in vain.  The National Review also has good articles, but with even more frequency it will do the same wicked thing.  There are also news sources such as WorldNetDaily that should not be recommended because of their sensationalism, salesmanship, and too-often inaccurate content.

It is possible to take the class without watching the lectures live. The cost for the three-credit course (1st semester) will be $150. The class can be audited for $75. The class lectures will be posted on the Internet and can be viewed online for free, but only those registered for the course will be able to ask questions, engage in classroom interaction, take tests, etc. Scholarships for those who are genuinely unable to afford it (e. g., some who wish to learn Hebrew in very impoverished countries in Africa) are available. To register for the course, use the registration form below and send it to Mukwonago Baptist Church. More information is also found here. The second semester will follow, Lord willing, after the first semester credit hours are completed. The course content and class dates for 1st semester are found in the course outline above.
